A recording of me whispering, then layered four times and a convolution reverb effect added. Recorded using an mxl v63m condenser mic through flstudio.

Alien xxx sent me a “cross modulation challenge”. I have tried to be true to his idea, but added automation, so to speak. Oscillator1 is constantly fm-modulating oscillator2. I vary the frequency of oscillator1 with an lfo. The output of oscillator1 is sent to a) left audio channel and b) in to oscillator2. The output of oscillator2 is fed to oscillator1. The degree of cross fm modulation is controlled by a vca controlled by another lfo. The output of oscillator2 is also sent to right audio channel. As i’m writing this i have just made a theoretical patch on a piece of paper. The result is what you hear. No effects added. Straight out of the modular for better or worse.

Around 2010, i circuit-bent a motorola cellphone and added a control surface to control the bends. Then i added an atari paddlewheel so its big potentiometer could be used to do pitchbends, and the result is an instrument i called the "sonic electronic ball breaker". It's got knives, quarterstaves, thor's lightning, sharp sticks, nuclear machineshotguns, and even some claws that come out to jab 'em. In this sample i'm going through and playing with the controls to see what i get. These sounds are pretty abrasive, but they work well when run through a bunch of effects.

A scary music bit i made in garageband for a thing called victors crypt. I added a lot of room, reverb and echo to make this as eerie as possible. It's basically based on a melody with a lot of room. This sound is an audio file that slowly breaks up the further it is played. I recorded this with an in-built microphone, no idea what make though. I recorded this on audacity, and added gradual distortion. Warning: you may need to turn down the volume for the last 6 seconds!.

Ghostly female wail. Might be ghosts, or might be deadly sirens calling across misty waters to lure hapless sailors to their doom. Voice synthesis achieved by mixing formant filtered oscillators. Pitch bending is added to the note track to produce a descending, spooky wail.

Just a small sound of a green spectrum, then distorting it and adding some scale-shift. I really like it, sounds like one of those sounds for a ui, like menu hovering(!).

The sample are mixed and processed. The fade-in/stopping done by filters & the noises, the full sample done by glitching, granulize & adding more sounds: doorclosing, drive starting, -stopping & dooropening/drive ending.

My coffe-machine (a senseo) went bezerk last tuesday. I added some madness to the recording using granular synthesis and revers. The result will end up in one of my compositions, it is the power-of-fracture. To be honest, i like this kind of madness. . .

I recorded the sound of myself blowing into an empty glass kombucha bottle in various ways. I then processed through ableton's simpler, added compression, reverb and eq. Mic: blue yetidaw: reaper + ableton.

I removed the aerator from the kitchen faucet and didn't get it turned off. My coffee cup filled and this sound resulted. I thought, sounds a little like water falling into a pool in a cave; so i added reverb to this file. Iphone and external mike. Reverb in audacity.
