Time to give something back. Drilling right in front of my house. Because internet cable was broken. Used the opportunity to mic it up. Recording made from inside. Drilling is about 5m away with a wall in between. You can hear my son about halfway through way in the background. But thought i wouldn't cut up the sample. Recording using 2 x gefell m930 in ortf stereo. No processing. Use freely. Would appreciate attribution if you use it, but not mandatory.

The very free one had to much background for my taste, while the attribution one required, well, attribution. So i made one for those just looking for a free sound. Enjoy. A busy sunny summer sunday morning in bellefonte, pennsylvania, us. On this recording you will hear cicadas, traffic on the street at the bottom of the hill, brief voices and a following chorus of barking dogs, police and fire sirens, and church bells. Recorded using a lavalier mic and the hi-q app on an android phone. Gain set to +. 05.

On deck aboard a baltic sea car ferry bound from rostock/germany to trelleborg/sweden. It is late evening, and the ferry is cruising clear of the harbor into the open sea. The recording features the ambient noise on deck, mainly the drone of the ship and it's diesels, some sea in the background, and the occasional door opening and closing. Recorded with a zoom h2n. These are the rear channels of a 4ch surround recording. Mics set to 120° dispersion.

Multiple gunshots recorded at an indoor gun range. Many of the shots are from an ak47, including single shots and full auto. There is some background noise, but there are some good clear shots in there that can be easily cut out and used. Unfortunately the original recording is only mp3 and the recorder had auto-gain set so some shots are recorded louder than others, but there are still some usable shots in there.

I recorded this in my living room with mics in an x-pattern on the couch very close together, using a tascam dr-70d and behringer dyynamic microphones with patch cables for optimal volume. I recorded this at maximum gain on the tascam as two stereo files, then conjoined them to a 6-channel audio file properly and mixed the front two channels to a monaural center channel for added effect. The final result is what can be downloaded here. Tghe music in the background is part of the star trek: generations expanded complete score, and is coming from my computer to the rear of the recording, which lasts just over a minute in length, and the music was just background noise for testing purposes only. No copyright infringement was intended. Credit for the music goes to the now late jerry goldsmith and also dennis mccarthy, who is still alive. While fooling around with the beat repeat plugin in ableton one day, i noticed it would do this cool rhythmic decrescendo whenever i would hit "repeat". But not when i would export! so i just kept messing around with a simple hi-hat loop with audacity running in the background. I've cut down and sampled this recording many times, think it's time i let it go to see what the internet can do with it ;).

A recording made on saturday march 30th 2019 right beside a creek at giant city state park in illinois. The beautiful, pleasant sound of the creek dropping over a small sandstone rock provides a nice background to the very "happy-to-be-here" louisiana waterthrush. The birds have returned, and spring is on its way. . . The annual re-birth in the forests of southern illinois. Equipment used:zoom f4 field recordersennheiser mkh-416 shotgun microphone.

This is a recording of michigan avenue in chicago from an interior perspective made from the 24th floor facing west. The microphones were spaced apart and placed very close to the window. Interior ventilation/air conditioning rumble is audible. This could be a useful sound for a downtown city office background. Time of recording was 3:05pm. Crickets recorded at night, in my garden, in summer. Recorded with a tascam dr-05. The sound was post-processed with audacity to remove the background noise (it was a stormy weather). If you want the raw sound without post-process, find "crickets at night - raw sound". I recorded this sound intended to use it in the video game i'm currently developing : the elven decline.

The origin of this recording is a hob on the highest heat level recording slightly hot. Be very careful if you are doing this as fire is obviously detrimental to organic life and the microphone does not like to be on fire. An "acidized" (marked with loop/cue flags) sample. I imagine a furnace combusting away. Rate-shifting this sample (pitch/speed) can give you variations in your daw (digital audio workstation). This sample in particular feels appropriate for use as a background furnace sound or if sped up, a flamethrower.

In fact, this record i added is not a carefully watched record. It's an arrangement i made overnight. I did, though, because i thought the lovers would come out. It's a little nervous. Maybe a mysterious event can be used in a documentary or presentation. If you want to improve it i can make some effects and editing. Bon appetit :).

Here's a recording of a small campfire in the forest at night made in saint-urbain (charlevoix) pq, canada in a night of august 2014. You can hear wind in the leaves and crickets in the background. It was made with a sound devices usbpre2 into a tascam dr-680 (spdif) and 2 microphones studio project c1 in ortf stereo pattern. A little correction was made in equalization of the sample and the volume was augmented w limiter. It's in 24 bits 96khz , 40hz low cut.

This one has a very vocal blackbird finishing off the evening (8pm). All recorded whilst staying in a converted barn in rhos, wales. Recorded on my zoom h4n, there maybe some wind noise in places and maybe a very high flying jet, but mostly it is just the sound of nature. There is a nearby stream in the background too. These are the original uncompressed untreated files. Hope it is useful to someone.
