A close up recording of an overheating usb slot-loading cd/dvd drive that repeatedly tries to spin up, but fails and makes some clicking noises. Note on low frequency sounds: i recorded this with a zoom h1n recorder at about 2cm distance from the drive slot. I held the recorder in my hand and rested my hand on the surface the cd drive was resting on, so there is somewhat of a mechanical connection between the drive's vibrations and the recorder. I believe this led to the low frequency parts of the recording. About halfway through the recording, i lifted the drive up with my other hand and held it at a 30degree angle to the surface and recorder. As you can hear in the recording, this made it spin up a little longer before failing and spinning back down.

Boring sound. . . Neuron patch (?). . . Inspired by nlc squid axon (i have saved some hp for that one!) i have patched up a simple 2 stage asr with 2 s/h. Most of the time it plays its atonal melody, but when the patch is stimulated (by a sloth lfo) feedback opens up. I can adjust the sensitivity in different ways (so i can simulate the intake of drugs. . . ). The sound from the oscs goes though vcfs with some resonance. The vcfs are controlled by the same sloth lfo. My neuron patch. . . No hands during recording. My favourite part is when nothing happens - for almost 1 min?! but you can hear the filter working via the vcfs. The cv must be in some strange area.

My small dog was running around outside and got pretty hot. When i brought her in, she began lapping up water at a fast pace. She's also a little sniffly so it got some nice sniffle noises in there too. I feel like this could work well for plenty of different character shots, from a monster, to a comedy-type shot of someone eating something like noodles, to a dog drinking water in an animation. This stereo recording was made on november 23, 2014 in grays harbor washington during a rare thunderstorm. The clip contains rain falling on a wooden deck and recurring peals of thunder both near and far. This original recording was made using a zoom h-6 handy recorder with zoom stereo xy microphone. The track was edited in audacity 2. 0. 6 to remove a few artifacts. Total run time for this wav file is: 8:29. This is my first upload. I am hearing impaired and new to field audio recording. I am fascinated by this art form and hearing sounds that i haven’t been able to hear in twenty years. A field recording i made in bruges, december 2013. While i was walking around the chapel at the béguinage, a nun started singing and practising the organ. It sounded beautiful but also quite spooky and ethereal. I'm afraid it's not the best quality as i had to improvise with the voice memo feature on my iphone. The recording has distant singing and other ambient noises, such as footsteps and whispering. The organ kicks in at 02:29. Please let me know if you make use of this.

This is a recording made on an iphone se using the now discontinued sennheiser ambeo vr headset for binaural "3d" recording. This recording has not been processed in any way except for the levels which were normalized. Since it was a cold windy day, i believe i had the mics under a thin hat, which acted as a wind shield. This may have slightly muted the higher frequencies but it shielded the mics from wind noise. I will make some more recordings and share them.

I just took my alarm clock radio and played with the am tuner and got some pleasing results. I was playing around with my sampler fx today and decided to rig up my electric guitar. I use a fender american special stratocaster, hooked up to an akai s2000 sampler with on-board fx - distortion and guitar metal applied in real time, the signal then sent through to amplitube fx rack on my computer with vintage crunch setting. This is a strum of the lower e open. I recorded a number of stabs and thought this clip might come in useful.

For a podcast project i needed some coffee related sounds so i recorded our techni-vorm moccamaster, filter coffee machine as it brewed a full pot. Our version has a metallic thermos jug rather than the standard glass jug. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is no processing to this recording other than to ‘normalize’ the levels. I do not require any credit or attribution. Bird singing recorded at around 3:40 am with yinger bm 800 ldc-microphone in front of my open window, i had to add some noise reduction because of my computer fan with reafir (there isn't really much of that noise left, atleast if compared to original). You can also maybe hear ocassional space bar-click sound maybe twice, but it's still pretty useable clip in my opinion, i recorded this just to test my new microphone, and because i couldn't sleep because of the loud birds singing, and in revenge i recorded that with my shiny new yinger bm800. I record my modular synth performing. I select parts - silence to silence - under 30 seconds. Machine composition - human selection. Warning this is very electronic. . . I'm patching up quantussy cells to make this. Much work for. . . What?.

Machine composed electronic music - or experimental generative atonal electronic music made with an analog modular synth. I give my synth the prerequisites to create music - and it does - endlessly. I record and pick out some created songs.

Rode nt4 placed centered and perpendicular to an outside window, fed into an maudio delta1010lt. Slight clipping on the larger thunder claps, had the input slightly too high. This is a sample of about an hours worth of recordings i got on this storm. Heavy rain and the lightning got so bad later i had to shut off my computer. 3am couldnt sleep.

I searched for a long time to find a jaws harp sample and eventually found one and successfully extracted a few notes from a very old appalachian folk song field recording, well out of copyright. I sampled a single note, which then fed ok into a midi keyboard, allowing me to effectively play jews harp melodies. The result was pretty ok.

I call this my flash boom. It's a sub plus a pitch shifted snare that i created on my track "a flash of light by the shore" use it to create dynamics on a hit or whatever you want. Give a shout out to stark for machines and have fun! :). - chris.

This is a beat i made using the percussion presets form fab filter 1 cm synth for a track i was writing. Each hit was then loaded into abletons impulse drum sampler and tweaked for my pleasure. The snare was subject to some serious stretching,which gives it a rasping sound!fab filter 1 really is a simple but very useful synth.

I combined a lot of fx from this site to make a huge explosion with a large aftermath and ringing in the ears- to make it a more 'cinematic' moment, i have a build up in reverse to the moment, a pause, then the explosion. Rubble and glass fall as the listeners' ears ring from the explosion.

This is a reel for the make noise morphagene. It was created using the chord preset from mutable instruments plaits. The chords gravitate around c. I twiddled the knobs while recording and the results were fed through valhalla shimmer before i cut a few sections up and rearranged the audio to make a reel. Have fun!.
