I found this old c-60 cassette labelled "xx" in a local thrift store. (i like to collect found sound recordings-- sometimes there's some pretty weird stuff!) well, it turns out i found some guy's old tape recording involving him having sex while blasting some awful anne murray cover album. . . The recording is the post-sex dialogue, right after that final song fades out. . . At the end, the woman asks something like "are you going to get your tape recorder?" and the guy seems to become flustered, saying something like "i wasn't recording, it's off!" (i'm paraphrasing. ) i guess he thought she realised he was recording it or something. Anyways, after this, the recording is cut off. You can also hear a toilet flush, and some sort of "squeaky toy" noise during the recording. Recorded direct to soundcard, playing back the tape on a cheap hand-held cassette player. Edited w/ compression to reduce peaking.

My girlfriend was listening with me and she didnt hear anything like this!!!to find out what was going on alienxxx suggested to run the samples thrue an eq to see what was going on. After that i maxed out my eq at 14,8khz. Setting everything to maximize the peak that is so very very very annoying!!!. .

Suddenly a thrown beer bottle arced across the sky and smashed on a rock embankment, not ten feet from me. One might record a better bottle break, but this one was quite immediate, and thus, short.

I get this call from my daughter's elementary school, first week of school and already a cyber attack, messing up the entire school's computer systems. One lonesome bird that lives in a tree on the neighbour's court. I recorded the tweets early in the morning from my balcony testing a røde videomc pro. There was some far away plane noise that i've filtered down quite heavily, so that now the bird sounds kind of 'isolated' and maybe somehow synthetic. Additionaly i passed an eq and a compressor (in audacity).

I´ve found a more than 2 meters high and wide bronze artwork hanging upright. It has several blocks on its surface, looking just like a upright hanging town. On 5 of the "houses" i played a rhythm, using rather hard drumsticks für kettledrums. Recorded with zoom h4n with 2 schoeps ccm4 mics.

A space-ship laser firing sound with a retro-y 8-bit effect. My work, feel free to use in any way however you'd like. To make this, i used a synth in cubase to get the basic laser sound, then exported to garageband where i applied and tweaked the bitcrusher effect to give it the 8-bit effect.

Generative modular acid line sequenced with my own custom script that is specialized for non-quantized sort of strings of notes. I mangled the envelope quite a bit though so it just sounds more swingy than anything i guess. Not sure what the bpm would be. Would be better if it were cut up for one-shot sounds maybe.

An early spring bird-recording trip turned into a surprise, steady rain. (*actually, it should not have been a surprise, i just was too lazy to check the weather before i went out exploring nature!). I set up my zoom h4n recorder partially under a picnic table and recorded this wonderful, peaceful light rain falling in a small field of very large white pines, which were growing on a penninsula of a small lake. Every now and then you will hear a bird singing out. Again, recorded using my handy zoom h4n recorder with the built-in stereo microphones. Enjoy. Kevin.

I've used freesound shared sounds for my podcasts since 2020. I needed the sound of a dog wagging its tail on a wooden floor for my latest episode and couldn't find an appropriate one. So i created this sound by talking sweetly to my dog while lying on his side on the floor. The original audio file had more of me talking than my dog wagging his tail. This is the soundscape i've recorded in my neighboorhood of cidade tiradentes, a district from são paulo, brazil. We name these events as pancadão (big punch) or fluxo (flow). When a flow occurs, you know that the sound is very high and it invades all surroundings. It happened in april 4, 2021, during our worst period in the the global covid-19 pandemic. Plent of people, vehicles, multiple speakers and so on in a street. I'm writing in the exact moment police came to repress, but in my conclusion only education can solve city problems, not repression, not paliative atitudes. I think this is interesting to share it here, as a cultural manifestation, showing that when the state fails, everyone fails. This is disrespectful at all, but i try to look it as a construction of city.
